Server-wide management is performed with the aid of Operserv-provided
services. To get access to Operserv, you must have an "O-line" in the
hybserv config with your hostmask, encrypted password, and options
flags.
As a server operator, there is no need to use traditional oper
powers, and in fact, seems to restricts for opers to 'oper' level (and
disallows admin and super-user/services admin access). Wield Operserv
instead.
Useful commands via Operserv (for all opers):
- kill (nick) [reason] -- Kills a user from the server with optional reason.
- umode (mode) -- Sets various Operserv mode flags for yourself (see help umode for a list of modes).
Administrator commands:
- channel (mask) -- Shows status for all channels matching (mask).
- ignore (add|del|list) (mask) [time] -- Adds/dels/lists users to ban from using any IrcServices for optional time [time]. add and del require a mask provided, list without lists all ignored users.
- join #(chan) -- Causes operserv to join a
channel, which need not be registered with chanserv, to keep the
channel alive and keep people from getting ops on the channel. (Better
to use Chanserv functions properly to secure channels more
permanently.) Make operserv leave channel with part command.
- killchan #(chan) [msg] -- Disconnects all users in that channel from the server with an optional reason.
- killhost (hostmask) [reason] -- Disconnects all users that match the hostmask with optional reason.
- omode #(chan) (modes) -- Forces given modes on given channel.
- secure #(chan) -- Secures a channel by clearing
all bans against Oper admins or superuser, clearing any restricting
modes, and deops all users in channel and makes Operserv join the channel.
Services Administrator / Superuser commands are for the direct manipulation of the IrcServices
daemon (shutting it down, restarting it, turning services off or back
on, or setting base config values.) Generally intended for those
without root or other sufficient access to the services server itself
to effect changes directly.
